Boltons! All the I'm a professional really feels right there. In 1987 I got two suits from Bolton's. I think the brand was Harve Bernard (they dropped the Y and added an accent, I've always thought). Cropped navy jacket with a long A line skirt, in dark sober navy, and a long jacket with no collar and a straight skirt in navy and white tweedish. Hated them both. But I was at Simon & Schuster. You had to do it. At least I could wear power flats on Fridays. Loved reading this.
This took me right back to shoulder pad days! My daughter is in her 20s and to see her adopt some of that iconic”fashion” is funny. I do hope work wear never returns to that level of rigidity, but I do look forward to dressing up, comfortably.
